The well-known Chamunda Mataji temple is located at Chotila, a small town near Rajkot in Gujarat State. Chotila is located closely in the center of Ahmedabad and Rajkot, the two major cities of Gujarat State. Chamunda Mataji is the Kuldevi (family Goddess) of most of the Hindus staying in Saurashtra area of Gujarat State, situated in the north of it. Thousands of pilgrims come to Chotila every year and achieve the darshnas of Chamunda Mataji.Chamunda Mataji Temple Chotila is a small town having population of around 20,000 people and is a taluka head quarter of Rajkot district.

The Mataji temple is placed at the top of the Chotila Mountain. Mataji temples are always placed at the top of the hills in India and the reason for this is that if you want darshnas of Mataji, you will have to feel some physical strain. Chotila Mountain is around 1250 feet high and is situated around 40 miles away from Rajkot, and around 50 miles away from Ahmedabad.

One can easily reach Chotila within about one and a half hour from Ahmedabad by the national highway number 8B it is passing through the entire Gujarat State. As soon as you reach Chotila, you will find number of shops that sale prasads of Mataji, different types of Gujarati souvenirs like thick bangles with engraving, CDS and DVDS of Chamunda Mataji, and lots of toys for all ages of children. There are thousands of such shops situated at the bottom of the Chotila hill.

You can start your climb from the base after walking some distance. There are stoned steps up to the top of the hill. These steps were not covered by the shadow before about 5 years. However, a good shade and railings now cover the whole walkway thus providing comfort to all the pilgrims. Well-known industrialists, Ambani brothers of Reliance industries have donated this covering and the shades on the hill.

The well-known and the oldest Pavagadh temple of Mahakali are located at Pavagadh, near Vadodara, one of the chief cities of Gujarat.

This holy place has become the place for the pilgrimage for almost all Hindus in India. As a result, lots of guests pay their visit at this holy place a lot of times throughout a year. Mainly, nine days in the Gujarati month Aso (English month October) are considered the most holy days as the most well-known Navratri fair is taking place at this time.

The millions of pilgrims come to this temple of Mahakali. The pavagadh temple remains open through out the day during this period. This holy place is among the three main Shaktipeeths in Gujarat.

It has been supposed in the Hindu shastras that after the well-known Tandava dance of Lord Shiva, the different parts of the body of Sati fell at numerous places. These places are called Shaktipeeths. It is said that the left breast of the Sati had fallen here at Pavagadh.

As the name suggest, the temple is situated on a mountain, near to the Champaner town. Pavagadh temple is well linked by road from all the main cities of Gujarat. The buses are available from Vadodara at around every 30 minutes. Pavagadh is only around 30 miles away from Vadodara.

The bus drops you at the bottom and then, you are necessary to climb the mountain till Manchi, which is the start of the climb. You can either travel by the ropeway cable cars, plying between Manchi and the Mahakali temple or climb on your feet.

Ambaji temple is located at Ambaji town, in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat. Ambaji temple, the holy the seat of Ambe Mata - the Mother Goddess, is a well-liked pilgrim place for Hindus. People of Gujarat receive the name of the Goddess in high regard. Ambaji temple is also considered as one of the Shakti Peethas in India. The Goddess is a manifestation of Shiva's consort, Parvati. Ambe Mata is the Adya Shakti- the primordial female power, the Mother Goddess. The Navratri celebrations are planned on a huge scale in the Ambaji temple. Throughout the celebration, a huge fair is prepared here each year. People celebrate the event with huge pomp and show. They sing and dance in admire of the glory of the Goddess. Ambaji temple is situated on the Arasur hill in the Aravalli Range. The most attractive feature of the holy place is that it does not contain any idol. It just has a yantra, made of marble which is engraved at a spot. A huge amount of devotees throng the Ambaji Temple throughout Purnima fairs held, on the full moon day, in the months of Kartik, Chaitra and Bhadrapad. A small distance from Ambaji, there is a hill named Gabbar Hill. People think that the Goddess revealed herself on the hill and left the imprints of her feet. She is still measured the main Goddess of the region. This has made the place a pilgrim for the Hindus in the state and outside.

How to Reach:

Ambaji Temple is located at a very helpful location as it is near to almost all the main cities of Gujarat and Rajasthan. It is just 180 kms from Ahmedabad and 45 Kms from Mount Abu. Still if you are planning to come from Delhi then it is at a distance of 700 Kms. The nearest railway station is Abu Road Station in Rajasthan from where Ambaji city is just 20 kms away. The nearest airport is at Ahmedabad.
