Tarakeshwar Temple Of Bengal :

Tarakeshewar Temple it is located at Tarakeshewar near Kolkata in Hogoly Districk of West Bengal, the shrine dedicated to Taraknath (one of the forms of Lord Shiva), was assumed to be built in 1729 AD by Raja Bharamalla.

There are so many story behind the Tarakeshewar Mandir. One story goes with a person Vishnu das and his brother came to Tarakeshewar town from ayodhya. The locals people looked suspiciously the Vishnu das and his brother and to prove his innocence Vishnu Das hold a red hot iron in his hand. Later his brother unearthed a Shivalinga from a spot in the town. He got a night dream that it was Lord Shiva and he have to established a temple over there. it is built in typical Bengali style of architecture.

Tarakeshewar Temple is build in two parts the sanctum and the verandah, A Shivling consists in the middle of the sanctum. There is a tank in the north of the temple. It has three spires over it . Mahashivaratri is the main festival celebrated in this temple.It has four sided porch has three arched openings railings on its roof. Mondays are believed to be very auspicious days in this temple.
